Painting Surfaces
Bring the sizes
that you are comfortable with.
Up to 16” X 20” are best for outdoor painting.
Cotton or Linen – stretched or mounted on masonite or plywood
panels
(Panels or loose pieces of canvas taped to a board are good for traveling
and outdoor work.)
Easel
A lightweight portable easel. Jullian French easels are good for all around use.
I use an Open Box M pochade box for en plein air oil painting.
Miscellaneous Items
Small painting knife
Palette mixing/scraping knife
Rags or paper towels
Carrying bag or backpack
Sun Screen (for on location workshops)
Palette cup or small tin can for medium/turp
Soap for cleaning brushes
Camera and film
Hat (for on location workshops)
Drop cloth or newspapers (for studio classes
